Purcell joined the Recording Academy as executive director of the Los Angeles chapter in 2013. She was later named senior director of member outreach, which had her spearheading industry outreach across the membership & industry relations department. “I’m extremely passionate about the work I’ve done at the Academy over the past seven years and I’m thrilled to continue focusing my efforts on building a diverse membership body that feels heard, supported and represented,” said Purcell. “It’s important that our members understand that they have the power to influence and shape the future of the music industry, whether that’s through advocacy efforts, voting in the GRAMMY Awards process, or beyond.”
Prior to the Academy, Purcell was executive director of Harvardwood, a global nonprofit “for members of the Harvard University community who believe in the purpose and power of the arts.” She has also worked at Island Def Jam Music Group, Monitor Deloitte and Goldstar.
