A week after “Hallucinogenics” became Matt Maeson‘s second No. 1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart, the song lands him his first trip to the top of Rock Airplay, where it jumps 3-1 on the survey dated Sept. 5.

“Hallucinogenics” rules Rock Airplay with 6.3 million audience impressions in the week ending Aug. 30, a boost of 11%, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Maeson’s previous highest charting hit on Rock Airplay, “Cringe,” reached No. 2 in August 2019. In between “Cringe” and “Hallucinogenics,” Maeson’s “Go Easy” peaked at No. 24 in March.

Maeson is only the fourth male soloist to lead Rock Airplay, which began in 2009. His predecessors? Beck, who hit No. 1 with “Up All Night” in January 2018, Gotye (“Somebody That I Used to Know,” featuring Kimbra, March 2012) and Vance Joy (“Riptide,” August 2014).

Maeson is also the third soloist to rule Rock Airplay in 2020, following Meg Myers with “Running Up That Hill,” and Billie Eilish with “Everything I Wanted,” of seven total No. 1s this year.

Concurrently, “Hallucinogenics” tops Alternative Airplay for a second week. On Adult Alternative Songs, it leaps 12-7, equaling Maeson’s previous best, set by “Cringe” in January 2019.
